I am from the township of Soweto, with my roots firmly placed in the township from Zola to Kliptown, I have been there and I’m still there. Growing up in the informal settlement is somehow humbling because you learn humility and humanity is instilled in you. Everyone is related to anyone, it is in that environment that I was born and raised, an environment that others would say is volatile I call it home.

I am a third year student at the University of Johannesburg, doing Bachelor’s degree in education majoring in Mathematics and Life Sciences. I am an open minded person that embraces diversity and I work well with other people as I derive my strengths from being around amazing people. I am currently a mathematics coach working with Numeric; Numeric is a South African non-profit company interested in using technology to create exciting and stimulating learning environments. What inspires me to be working with numeric is that we work with different types of learners that all bring their own personalities in class and I am constantly challenged to try and create a learning environment that will accommodate all these amazing personalities while maintaining my role as a coach, as a teacher. Although education is a process I believe that it is more of a relationship between individuals and everyone within it has the potential to make it a success by enduring and enjoying, for education is infinite.
