Hi there, my name is Sophia Tsonis and I am in my last year of my undergrad studying Biological Sciences at the University of Guelph. My interests range from studying multiple subjects within biology to seeing the world through travel. I am also passionate about fitness, nutrition, and yoga and aim to better my overall health day by day while influencing others looking to do the same.

I am fascinated in health sciences. Specifically, I enjoy learning about how our body’s function on a metabolic level and how these metabolic processes translate to our overall health. It is no surprise I have a passion for fitness and nutrition, as I have such a care for how external factors affect the body internally and vice versa. Learning and understanding the different bodily mechanisms is simply captivating. I also have a passion for wildlife biology and botany as I am a huge outdoor enthusiast. I love exploring and learning about nature and all its gifts it has to offer. One of my favorite ways to do this is through travelling. Learning about different cultures and meeting new people along the way are some of the reasons I love exploring new places.

Someone who has inspired me greatly is my childhood pediatrician. Since I was young, I always looked up to Dr. Milne and her passion for her practice. Seeing somebody truly enjoying their career while influencing others’ lives positively, encouraged my curiosity and now love for health sciences. Ultimately, this lead me to study Biological Sciences as my undergrad. After graduation, I plan on completing my yoga teachers training (YTT) certificate. Once borders are open for travel, I plan on completing part of my training in India, where the art of Yoga originated. Yoga has been a passion and major influence in my life. I aim to deepen my personal practice while developing the knowledge and skills to teach others through my training. Ideally, having a career where I can combine my degree and hobby would be optimal. Although I don’t have a specific career in mind, I’m confident it will become clear in time.

Unless you know me personally, you wouldn’t know about my obsession for the Canadian Rockies. I have plans in motion to drive to Banff, Alberta with all my things come May. This is extremely exciting, as I have never felt so at home like I do when I’m in the mountains. I feel this is a big move in the right direction, quite literally, and know in my heart the mountains are awaiting my arrival as I prepare to meet them again.
