Tsungi Chiwara

Harare, Zimbabwe

Above everything I am a daughter of the living God and my Christian faith inspires my life. I am married to Jimi and we are blessed with four children.

If you check out my Facebook page you will quickly realise that I am a prolific writer of inspirational messages and poems.

But I am also a woman of varied interests, with qualifications in French, Pharmacy, Church Leadership and HIV/AIDS Management. I am currently a PhD candidate in Health Studies, focusing on advancing HIV/AIDS communication for women.

I am a Non-executive Director for Zimbabwe's largest retail pharmacy chain and have served on the WARESA (Woman and Resources in Eastern and Southern Africa) board.

I work full-time for an international NGO as a health commodities supply chain expert.

I am also a former 1994 Zimbabwe Super Model Finalist.

I would describe myself as a contemporary Christian writer, passionate about creative evangelism and encouraging people. A synopsis of my writing achievements to date:

I am a contributing writer for the ‘Closer to God’ annual publication of Scripture Union South Africa. This is one of the things I am very excited about because it combines two of my great passions: pointing others to God and writing.

So far, the highlight of my writing career was when I published my novel, Reflections of the Heart – a Story of Hope, as an e-book (June 2013). My book became available in print from March 2014.

In February 2014 my book went on to be nominated for a prestigious NAMA (National Art Merit Award) in the category, ‘Outstanding First Creative Published Work’!

My book has been endorsed by Dr. John Stanko (From the U.S. and President of Purposequest and author of many books), Zimbabwe’s own Rabison Shumba and several others.

In June 2014 Authors in Africa featured me on their website.

So far, I have been interviewed by Jewel Magazine, Sunday News, ZiFM and PowerFM. Earlier in 2014 I was interviewed by Women and Africa, an organization headed by a U.S.-based Cameroonian international journalist who subsequently did a book review of my novel.

My book has been reviewed by several others including NewsDay, a leading Zimbabwean newspaper.

In 2014 my book was selected by theDepartment of Curriculum Studies & Education (University of Zimbabwe) as one of the set books for students who are studying for a Masters of Education in English.
