Ever since I was little, I've always had a fear of being held down. I was not too fond of the idea of being stuck in one place for the rest of my life. I wanted to have the freedom and ability to go wherever I wanted. The strictness of my Asian parents just made me crave that independence and freedom even more. Throughout my life, my parents have always been overbearing whether it be with school or my social life. Although my life was pretty privileged, the lack of freedom made me feel trapped. Since turning 18, my parents have calmed down and allowed me to take control of my life. Recently before starting college, I was able to travel Europe with a couple of my friends and that trip was life-changing. I got to see beautiful architecture. I got to enjoy the delicious foods each country had to offer. I got to meet amazing people that I would've not met otherwise. I got to make memorable memories that will last a lifetime. Most importantly I finally felt that freedom that I had yearned for. I have always been and always will be a free spirit. That trait makes an appearance in every part of my life. I hope to be able to enjoy more places and do more spontaneous things as I continue on life's journey.
