The Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association
The "Trinidad Music Association" was established in 1941, to promote and propagate the appreciation and practice of music throughout the island. In 1948, the Association held the first competitive Music Festival for Amateur Musicians and the competition, held Biennially, has become a fixture in the musical life of Trinidad and Tobago.
The organisation was incorporated by an Act of Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (Act No. 15 of 1972) as ‘The Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association’ (TTMFA) and in the 1973 National Awards the Association was awarded the Humming Bird Medal (Gold) for long and meritorious service in the field of Music.
The TTMFA holds competitive Music Festivals for amateur musicians and trains teachers and participants from schools and communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. In addition, the Association hosts regular Concerts and Recitals and provides scholarships for promising young musicians to further their studies at the Tertiary level.
