Turtledove & Dot

My name is Lesley Hall and I am the Founder/Owner of Turtledove & Dot. Turtledove & Dot is a handmade jewelry company specializing in high fashion for kids. All of our pieces are inspired by the mother-dauther bond between myself and my daughter; the real-life "Turtledove" and "Dot".

I am Turtledove. I got this nickname from my own mother who incorporated it into a homemade nursery rhyme song. It started out "Who's my Turtledove?". To which I would sing-singingly reply "Les-ley!" Then she would respond back with "Who's the one I love?" Obviously, it was "Les-ley!"

In 2011, when I found out that I myself would become a mother, I couldn't have been more joyful and proud. I had early complications and received several ultrasounds within my first trimester of pregnancy so I was lucky to see images of my daughter well before most do. In those early months, my beautiful daughter literally looked like a dot on the screen. Thus, her nickname was born: Baby Dot.

I can not even begin to describe the joy that I have fulfilling the role of mother. Having a child of my own has allowed me to reflect on the mother-daughter bond in a completely different way. I am truly in awe and inspired by this bond and my jewelry designs are, too.

I also fully appreciate that the role of "mother" can be filled by different people at different times. Mother, Auntie, Sister, Friend...all of these titles serve as mother at some point. As such, I design my jewelry to represent the mother-daughter bond that every woman embraces at some point along their life's journey.
