Tyler Fingert

Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Hey there, my name is Tyler Fingert, Finger with a T added onto the end. Easy to remember? I think so!

I’m a Junior at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. My emphasis is broadcast journalism with a minor in political science and a certificate in international studies.

Aside from hitting the books, I’ve had the opportunity to work at NBC 6 South Florida (WTVJ), The Arizona Republic and ASU’s on-campus radio station, The Blaze 1330 AM. While at NBC 6, I was the morning producing intern. I assisted in producing and writing news stories for cut-ins, as well as breaking and regularly scheduled newscasts. My work with the Arizona Republic appeared online at azcentral.com, usatoday.com and in the print edition of The Arizona Republic.

People may say “print is dying,” but I think it is a great starting point for a career in journalism especially considering broadcast is where I have my sights set.

I know a lot about stuff that doesn’t really matter to most people which can be good and bad. I love politics, but don’t have that same affinity about sports.

I’m from the Sunshine State, no not Arizona, Florida. I spent 18 years reading and watching the news about all the wacky things that happen in the state. That’s one of the many reasons why I want to be a journalist.

My motto is that there’s a world full of stories and I can’t wait to tell them.

Basically, I want to have a job where I can tell stories for a living and journalism gives me that and a whole lot more.

Anyway if you want to get in touch with me you can email me, tweet me or just about anything else and I’ll get back to you.
