The summer after my freshman year, I traveled to Mpumalanga, South Africa to volunteer on a game reserve. This trip jump-started my two strongest passions, traveling and sustainability. On the reserve, I was part of an anti-poaching project in the protection of endangered animals, I also got to work with orphans in inland South Africa. Working with American, English, Australian, and Norweigen volunteers has left me with best friends I will have my entire life.

After this trip, I realized how large our world really is and I needed to see more of it. Traveling to Thailand the following summer, I got to live with monks in Chiang Mai and study Buddhist Philosophy. Seeing the troubles of some of the most impoverished regions of our world (Africa and Southeast Asia) has created a fire in me. I realized how privilged we are in America, and how little of the world population lives like myself. I want to be part of the movement that changes this world. I fell in love with the idea of joining the PeaceCorps, like my grandmother. But as I have grown, I realized I can have a better impact on this world in Corporate America. I will be starting my career in with KPMG in October 2015. I hope to get involved in the Sustainability Risk Assurance practice, while still getting exposure to Financial Services. This means I will partake in audits of integrated reports, companies reporting using the triple-bottom line. I hope to push integrating reporting to all of America, forcing companies to accept the true cost of their operations. I plan on pursing my two passiong with KPMG working in sustainability while traveling for international business.

When I am back in the States, I love to boat in the summer and ski in the winter. I am fortunate enough to have a family house on Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire. This house is my favorite place on earth and allows me to kayak, swim, hike, boat, and ski in the winter. There's nothing I love more than to get some good friends up to the house for a weekend on the lake.
