I love seeing how things work from the inside out. I think knowing how to take something apart and put it back together is a great skill. When I was younger I did a lot of work with my dad on various building projects. He is a man of many talents. From constructing outdoor decks to replacing house windows I loved to tag along. I am definately lucky to have someone that has, and continues to pass on helpful trades and skills. I will almost always try to do something myself before passing the problem off to somebody else. It serves as a great way to learn new things while saving you some pocket change in the end. Anything related to building or fixing intrigues me. This has always been a passion of mine and I would love to turn this passion into a career one day.
One specific area of this passion is building computers. This comes back to the notion of seeing things from the inside out. A computer is just a big case with several independent components working together. By understanding this deceivingly simple layout, part by part, a full computer can be assembled. This was another trade my dad has passed on to me. Once the actual parts are received, the assembly can take as little as 30 minutes. It can save a ton of money and is, at least for me, an incredibly enjoyable process.
After high school I was really struggling to discover my aspirations for the future. It took me a while to realize that as long as I am doing something that I love, everything else will fall into place. My favorite quote has always been, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Building and understanding is what I truly love to do and I look forward to leading a life full of both.
