Student, Writer, and MUA in Durham, North Carolina
Hello everyone! I am a rising junior attending the best school on the planet, North Carolina Central University. I'm pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration of Marketing. My goal is to become a marketing executive in the fashion department.
Oh how I wish this was a biography that explains what inspired me to choose that career. Unlike some of my colleagues who knew what they wanted to be when they grew up, I found it difficult to narrow down what I aspired to be in life. I never understood why I had to choose one career path and say "this is what i'll do for the rest of my life." I enjoy the thought of being a person who's skilled in many things. I aspire to become a playwright, actress, clothing designer, entrepreneur, activist and, teacher to name a few. People will label me as a "free spirit", but I like to think of it as someone who can't be put in a box. Someone who doesn't limit themselves to society's expectations.
I believe that because the area in which I grew up in had limited opportunities for people, it put a strain on who I thought I could become. Families with limited economic, social, and educational resources are affected by the lack of resources and opportunities. This is a battle that I intend to fight and eventually overcome. I plan to start mentoring programs that help ensure young adults are properly prepped with the skills that guarantee them success. It is my duty to give back and help others who are in the same predicament as I once was. I hope that I can inspire you all to do the same.
