Tyree Brown

My name is Tyree Brown and I am a journalism major at the University of Georgia. So I guess you could say I enjoy writing but of course, not your typical English paper. Going into my first semester of college, I am already affiliated with two UGA organizations that publish online or print articles. The first one as most of you all know is the Red & Black. I encourage most people to read the paper even though many do not. I was one of these people before I joined the organization. However once I joined I realized how much work and preparation goes into producing even a single copy of the Red & Black. To be completely honest, at one point I didn’t think I had the tenacity or the time to even be a part of the staff. However sometimes you have to prioritize and self-motivate yourself to do things that make you better at the things you already enjoy, and that’s what I did. Through the last and current semester, I found myself to be a little lazy but this was corrected through my second organization, Elite Media. Elite was very stern on setting deadlines and making sure that stories were accounted for by the deadline. Elite also brought out my creative side, something an English paper could never provide. I enjoy writing, so of course I made sure that I turned my writings in on time so others could enjoy them. This made me more punctual, however while I may be on time, last minute is still my middle name. The goal is to eliminate the bad habits by using these organizations as guides, But knowing myself I have a long way to go.
