U2 //////////////// Mp3s
In 2001 I created a Tripod website called U2MP3s so that I could share my rare U2 45s with the world. I had noticed a need for less complex audio files as I browsed boards for hard to find songs. (I typically preferred torrents and flac files, but not everyone had the time or inclination to learn about such things.) So, I digitized U2-3, A Celebration, etc. into mp3s and uploaded a new track or so every week or so. By 2003 I moved to U2mp3s.com with a PHP site built by a fellow fan and designed by me. We created a forum for the fans to share U2 rarities and bootlegs in mp3 format. Then iTunes was born, The Complete U2 was released, and the site became largely irrelevant as I lost interest in forums and boards, as well. I keep the site alive for those who still like to trade mp3s and other file formats, though I rarely grace its pages anymore. Instead, I have moved onto Twitter & Tumblr where I can share whatever U2 news or videos, quotes or encounters that may grab my attention.
If you’d like to know more about me, feel free to read my now 8+ year old About Me page here: www.u2mp3s.com/aboutme.html. It’s filled with typos and missing design elements, but it’ll do the trick. [This page is down. If I can find the original, will republish.]
Cheers!
