Eventually, he transitioned into airport development and opened an airline. He believes his early work in a war-torn country like Cambodia paved the way for his future successes in a risky environment, growing and operating a commercial airline in what some might see as unstable conditions.

Beyond his ongoing responsibilities with Orient Thai Airlines, Udom Tantiprasongchai maintains a rich personal life. He enjoys an array of recreational interests, including golf. He also engages in a variety of philanthropic activities. Today, Udom Tantiprasongchai sponsors and raises funds for numerous charitable projects, including local orphanages.
