Ulrich Eck

Adelaide, Australia

Ulrich Eck was born in Munich, Germany. He is currently working on his PhD in Computer and Information Science at the Magic Vision Lab of University of South Australia. He worked as a freelancing consultant and software developer for more than 10 years. Furthermore, he was managing owner of a retail business in Germany in the years 1995 to 2007. In 2010 he began to study Computer and Information Science at the University of South Australia and finished his Bachelor Degree with first class honours in December 2011. During his undergraduate studies, he won four scholarships, including the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship and the CIS Undergraduate Honours Scholarship. As member of an international team of researchers, he won the Best Demo Award for the BurnAR demo at the ISMAR Conference, 2012. His main areas of research are: Augmented Reality, Computer Haptics, Sensor Fusion, and System Architecture. He is currently working on a Haptic Augmented Reality system for Medical Training as part of his thesis. He has already designed and built several software frameworks for Augmented Reality and Haptic Augmented Reality applications.
