If I were to choose one topic regarding interests or hobbies in my life, I would choose basketball any day of the week. Basketball has always been so much more than just a game to me and has been a focal point of my life for as long as I can remember. I started playing when I was only five years old and have not looked back since. Obviously, I love playing the game, but what makes my interest of basketball so much different than your average ball player, is through the multitude of ways I use this passion to better myself as well as others around me in life. Ever since I grew out of recreational leagues, I have pursued doing volunteer work at recreational church leagues to help coach young players and be a mentor to them. I also would work basketball camps at my local high school almost every summer while in high school, and I can honestly say the joy I receive for giving back and helping kids through an interest and hobby of mine I love, supersedes the enjoyment I get out of playing the game straight up. Now that I am at UGA and not playing in any leagues besides IM anymore, I am looking to seek out somewhere in Athens where I can continue giving back and serving others doing something I genuinely love as well. Basketball has been such a key piece of my life for as long as I can remember, and I love it for so many more reasons than the fact that it is just something fun to play. My love for the game is definitely something unique to me that I enjoy sharing with others.
