For me Paris is like a second home, the bustling city has become an important part of who I am. My Dad is originally from Paris and came to the US to pursue his PhD and eventually settled in Atlanta. Yet almost all of my paternal family is still in France. I’m able to go back to France at least once a year and usually spend around 2 weeks in Paris along with the occasional trip to explore the other parts of the country. I have spent enough time in Paris to a point where I don’t consider myself a tourist who does the usual activities like visiting the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe. I usually settle myself into a routine of spending time in the local parks, visiting my favorite food spots and visiting my family. My daily activities combined with the fact that I speak French fluently with the standard Parisian accent I almost consider myself a local, yet it is definitely my second home. Because of my profound connection to this city, I have considered moving to Paris or spending an extended amount of time in the city if I have the means to do so in the future. No matter which direction life will end up taking me I know I will have eternal connection to this city with its beautiful architecture, culture and soul. It will always have a place in my identity.
