Hello, I’m Ugo. I’m a Medical Professor living in Tuscany, Italy. I am a fan of causes, innovation, and education. Most of all, I spent all my professional life (over 40 years now) working in cancer research. I was since the beginning and am even more convinced now that you cannot stop a disease such as CANCER if don't know its causes. This may appear as logically-sound, but many people believe today in a cancer-without-cause landscape. The irrationality or errors of such approaches will be also discussed here, in this site that I am essentially using also as a blog. I must say that this debate, far from being over, is becoming particularly heated today! Certainly not just because of my papers and criticisms. Let me quote two fantastic (and young) Indian Scientists that have greatly contributed to this debate, to which I will also participate here: Viney Prasad and Siddharta Mukherjee. Mukherjee's book "The emperor of all maladies", awarded the Pulitzer Price 2010 is strongly recommended for all readers of this site-blog (also with his The Gene). Most of all, I must recommend and prize JIM WATSON with his latest Edition of "DNA: the secret of life", now entitled "DNA: the story of the genetic revolution" (what a great Man is Jim Watson !!). In the two newly added chapters (8 and 14) Watson provides a new, critical and rational perspective also on the cancer problem. I also contributed recently to this discussion with two publications so far: "Cancer Modeling in the NGS Era" -2015- and "The long journey of cancer-modeling: Ubi Sumus ? Quo Vadimus ?" -2016-.
