For nearly 50 years,University Women’s Health Specialists has cared for Honolulu’s female residents, as part of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health

at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. It began as an OB/GYN residency training

program in the Mary Foster wing of the Kapi’olani Hospital, and has since

blossomed to become one of the school’s largest and most powerful clinical

departments.The department currently features three professor emeritus, as well as28 full-time, four part-time, and 107 volunteer and adjunct faculty. Celebrated

as scholars for women’s health, the OB/GYN specialists oversee numerous

divisions dedicated to family planning and reproductive health. The family

planning division focuses on clinical care, education, and research concerning

contraception and abortion, and offers the full spectrum of OB/GYN care, as

well as family planning-specific visits. A complete range of pregnancy options are also available,

including prenatal care, abortion, and adoption assistance. University Women’s

Health Specialists support women in whatever choice they make, and are happy to

answer any questions patients have. OB/GYN specialists welcome discussion of

all options, and also offer a full selection of birth control products.
