Uhood Alzahrani

Student in Cleveland, Ohio

Read my blog

This is Uhood Moseed S. Alzahrani from Saudi Arabia. She studied her bachelor degree in (Home Economic) at King Abdul-Aziz University with first honor. Therefore, Uhood received the full scholarship from university to complete her master and Ph.D. degrees to pursue her study in the field of Early Childhood Education.

During her study, she did man volunteer work. Volunteering for Youth Care Foundation has been the most rewarding experience of her life. No kidding. she has been involved in a diverse range of tasks, from stuffing envelopes for appeals and office administration, to helping run social events, cooking for marathon runners, helping to set up an art exhibition, befriending, and being a sighted guide at a countywide conference and an art workshop – all in a year. Another volunteer job was in a rural school. It is a very different system than the one we had in the urban school. It was a good experience being able to see teachers doing all they can with little resources available. The children of the school were very brilliant with many having better hand writing skills. The school staff did a great job at making feel welcome along with her home stay family which she already misses dearly.

This has drawn on her life experiences, made her feel useful and given a real sense of accomplishment. Uhood would recommend the experience to anyone who likes a challenge (big or small), and who enjoys meeting new and interesting people.

She has been in the USA since May 2014 and she studied the English language in ELS Johnson City, Tennessee. By the way, it's a nice place to live there.

Actually, Uhood is a teacher at Jazan University, which is allocated in the south of Saudi Arabia. She tries to gain a lot of information about early childhood. The reason for applying to study Early Childhood Education program is to expand on her knowledge in this field and to qualify herself for the future career.
