Uinta Academy
Located approximately one and a half hours north of Salt Lake City in Cache County, Utah, Uinta Academy provides troubled girls from ages 12 to 18 with compassionate and licensed therapeutic guidance and care. The Uinta Academy campus inhabits a scenic valley surrounded by mountains, providing students with a healthy ranch environment. The school offers a mix of tailored academic learning and supportive psycho-educational therapeutic counseling, helping girls resolve personal issues and take control of their lives. Uinta Academy employs a dedicated staff of professionals trained at Master and Doctoral levels in fields such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. They work closely with students in individual, family, and group therapy sessions, customizing their approach to help girls overcome specific psychological barriers. Family members are kept well informed of their child's progress, both through weekly therapist reports and regular therapy sessions with their daughters via speakerphone. A unique aspect of the Uinta Academy approach is its focus on equine therapy. Each student has responsibility for training, grooming, and caring for her own horse. Girls gain communication skills through this process while learning how to take responsibility for an animal. Horseback riding excursions allow students to bond with their equine companions and with their group. Girls attending Uinta Academy have a variety of daily routines integrated into their curriculum, including cooking and meal preparation, gardening, and light ranch work. Elective classes include piano and guitar, giving students a pathway towards positive self-expression.
