Ged & Erin's UK Wild Ride

The ADVENTURE:

In spring 2015, Ged McFaul, from Scotland, and Erin Williams, from the U.S., will ride 500 miles around the UK, from Falmouth to Land's End and up to London.

Their adventure: Ged & Erin's UK Wild Ride, which will include countryside camping, bull-avoiding, couch-hopping, speaking at schools, friend-making, hill-swearing, and lots of filmmaking and photo-taking. They'll blog, vlog, and speak about the value of using our bodies, slow travel, and seeing the world from new perspectives.

Along the way, Ged and Erin are also fundraising for Hope & Homes for Children and Project Origin/Tree Aid. These charities represent a proverb that resonates with them: "Mighty oaks from little acorns grow."

The BACKGROUND:

Ged and Erin met in February 2014 on board Pangaea Exploration's S.V. Sea Dragon, sailing from Miami, Florida to Grand Cayman with an awesome crew, including ocean's advocate, skipper, and artist, Emily Penn, and author, speaker, and adventurer, Dave Cornthwaite.

On board Sea Dragon, Emily and Dave led Exploring Mindset, a program designed to inspire and facilitate a new community of change-makers. You can see a short film about the expedition here, as well as Erin's photos from the trip here.

As a result of the expedition, Ged and Erin set several goals, a few of which they're pursuing together. The first goal was completing the New Orleans Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in January 2015, which they did with their friend and fellow Sea Dragon crew member, Naomi Jane.
