Ulises Trejo
Student in Athens, Georgia
People always talk about how everyone in the world is unique, but I never really believed that. There are approximately several thousand people with the exact same name as me, Ulises Trejo. Although it may sound unique, in Mexico, where I was born, that name is very common. I do not believe that a person's name, place of birth, or even physical appearance makes them different. What I believe makes you unique is the story behind your life, your memories, and your personality. From a factual stand point, I am an averaged height Mexican immigrant with black hair and caramel skin complexion. However, who I am as a person is completely different. I am an easy going person with dreams of being an engineer. Most of my memories consist of moments I shared with my friends and family. I remember coming to America when I was five years old, I remember saying my first English sentence, I remember winning my first wrestling match, and I remember all the people that were there with me. Looking back on these moments brings a smile to my face. However, I slowly realize that some of the people that were there are no longer with me. A soothing euphoria of memories slowly turns into bitter sorrow. Although my memories have not all been good, they have shaped me into the person I am. My goals and dreams are common, but the journey ahead of me will be mine, it will be unique.
