Islam has five pillars. One of them is hajj. It is the fifth important pillar of Islam. Unlike all the pillars that are compulsory Hajj is only compulsory on those Muslims that are physically, mentally and financially capable of performing a holy visit to the sacred cities of, Mecca and Medina. It is performed in the last month of the Islamic calendar known as Dhu al-Hijjah. It lasts for 5 days, starting from the 8th till the 12th or in some cases the 13th as well. Hajj is compulsory on the ones that follow the given requirements;

The pillars of hajj are as follows;➢ Ihraam➢ Tawaf and Sa’i➢ Staying at Arafat➢ Tawaful Ifadha➢ Qasar/HalaqThese acts of hajj are performed in an order from the 8th till the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah. The hajj begins on the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah thus is the first day of Hajj.
