Uma Murthy

I am a Human Factors Engineer with URC Ventures, a Seattle-based startup developing technology for rapid 3-d reconstruction from image sets. I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech (May 2011). In my dissertation, I explored the use of parts of documents, or subdocuments, in scholarly tasks and developed tools to support working with subdocuments. My 8+ years of experience has allowed me to develop robust technical skills in software research, design, prototyping, development, and experimentation. My interests include digital libraries, digital annotations, information retrieval, information visualization, and personal information management.
