Anywhere the wind takes me.

This big, beautiful world we live on is a place filled with various cultures, beautiful scenery, and some of the most amazing people you could hope to meet.

This is my story of hawaii, my trip there to Honolulu, and Big Island.

When I went, it was November. I thought "well, it will probably be windy, and raining. Guess I better forget about the bathing suit and sandals". I was so wrong! I had a beautiful time, met some of the nicest, most hospitable people.

There was Larry and his girlfriend Lucia, two really wonderful, sweet people. I was greeted with a hug and kiss on my cheek, then driven all around Big Island, on the way to Hilo. We then proceeded to stop at a small bar, a place for locals, and wow! We got a beer, and pupu platters. Amazingly, the pupu platter is free, all you have to pay for is the beer! The food was delicious, fresh, and I felt so marvelous after some conversation while we relaxed.

Then there was a local man, unfortunately, I can't remember his name, but he was so funny, making jokes, and offering the use of surf boards, and snorkeling equipment. It's nothing there for someone to walk up to an old friend at a park, and request a beer or other refreshment, while sitting for a while, just talking and enjoying the beautiful onshore tradewinds. We stayed for 3 days, on Big Island, in Hilo. And ohhh how I loved the singing of the frogs, Coqui Coqui frogs I believe. They sound so much more beautiful than crickets or grasshoppers, though I still enjoy the sound of those.

After 3 days on the Big Island, I went back to Honolulu, and then spent 3 more days there, it was FANTASTIC! I went to Mai Tai's, enjoyed lychee maitai's and listened to some beautiful island reggae while dancing the night away.

Also went surfing in the big ocean, I've surfed before, but never off of an island, and let me tell you, even at the places with smaller waves, it's a FAR different experience than you'll find off the shore of the mainland. The dynamics of underwater terrain are different, as well as the currents. I loved it, it was thrilling, considering I was surfing during the shark mating season. But, you never get anywhere being afraid of what MAY happen, so I pulled up my big girl boardshorts, and hopped on the tanker, and paddled out!!
