Dr Udy Okon (PhD)
I am an ICT4D Researcher, Training Consultant & aProject Manager with over 18 years work experience. I have a PhDin ICT for Development from the University of London and an MSc from LondonSchool of Economics. I have worked as a consultant with international development agencies such as theWorld Bank, African Development Bank and UNICEF on youth development, capacitybuilding and impact evaluation projects. My expertiseis on ICTs for Development in Africa specialising in youth development andcommunity informatics. In 2002 I co-founded Youth Alive Foundation in Nigeria; a youth focused NGO aimed atempowering Nigerian youths through knowledge creation and ICT skillsdevelopment. I have been a member of the ICT4D Collective at RoyalHolloway, University of London (UNESCO Chair in ICT4D) since 2007. Thecollective undertakes research, teaching, training and consultancy relating tothe appropriate and sustainable use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT)for development in African countries. I am a Professional Member, British Computer Society; an Associate Member,Higher Education Academy, UK and Member, Association of Project Management, UK.
I am currently the Executive Directorof Youth Alive Foundation implementing a USAID funded Strengthening Advocacyand Civic Engagement Project in Nigeria. I am also a Member of the MultinationalWorking Group (MWG) in the Council for the Development of Social Science Researchin Africa (CODESRIA) on "Africa in the Information Society Era".
