Her first brush with practical filmmaking started in 2004, where she covered the Malaysian Idol auditions. Between the crooners and screechers, she found a breadth of diverse voices, sharing stories of both dirt and dreams. Fascinated by people, and equipped with a desire to refresh tired perspectives, Upneet’s personal films surround stories of different communities - from gypsies and silhouette artists to homeless people and haze-heroes.

Upneet has worked in different pockets of production across documentary, short films, corporates and television. She produces, directs, shoots and edits. She also enjoys fusing traditional forms with new methods of trans-media storytelling, and thrives on the spark of worldwide collaborations.

A globetrotter by nature, Upneet travels between Singapore and London - although she could be coming from any direction! Upneet also spends her time writing freelance for print and online platforms.
