Let’s face it: Most of the news media stinks … and we’re being generous. From the obvious, blatant political biases to the obsessive focus on the negative, there’s not too much good to say about the allegedly “mainstream” media. After joining a few million of our closest friends who had already made this astute observation, we knew we had only two choices: Complain about the media incessantly until restaurants will no longer agree to take our reservations, or actually do something about the problem. And so, Up Your News was born.

What does is mean to Up Your News? It means expecting a better selection of news stories. It means expecting those stories to be delivered with a positive outlook on life that – while it acknowledges that the sky technically could be falling – knows it probably isn’t. It means you’re not going to want to miss a single story from Up Your News.

Are you serious?

Honestly? Sometimes. Maybe even most of the time. But we’re going to have fun, too … just like we did with our name … which was originally going to be, “Stick It Up Your News.” But the 13-year-old daughter of our founder, Jeff Johnson, said that was immature. And she should know … since her father is Jeff.

We’re serious about accurately reporting the news. We’re serious about doing that in a way that doesn’t make you want to run screaming from the room. We’re looking for the good in the world. When we find it, we’re going to tell you about it. When we find something that makes us laugh or smile, we’ll share that with you, too. It’s just the kind of people we are.
