we are an artists residency offering rooms and a house for renting and free residency for accomplished artists, scholars and writers over 50. situated near lisbon in a wonderful garden, close to the beach, and a few kilometers away from beautiful sintra.

ursel robertine leinung august was a jewish german refugee who fled to portugal in 1936 with her husband herbert august. together they built this house in 1955. their story is partly told in the film “under strange skies” by daniel blaufuks.
