Uwayemen Uwadiale
Chicago, Illinois, United States
A girl from a small village in Nigeria, grew up in the northern region of the same country, who came to the United States of America as a teenager in search of the "American Dream" - this is Uwayemen.
Over the years, I have grown tremendously and continue to discover and improve myself as the years go by. In 2012, I got a bachelor's degree in nursing but a couple of months into working in the hospital, I found something I was more passionate about - fashion design. I have always had an eye for elegant and high quality fashion but this was the first time I got the courage to pursue this as a long-term career.
I moved to Chicago, IL in July 2013 to make my dreams come true, which meant me leaving my own home, privacy, independence, and moving to the Midwest to get a better opportunity to purse this fashion dream. I immediately registered for the GMAT, to allow me enroll in a business school for Fall of 2014. I always strive to be the best in all I do, hence the idea to seek an MBA degree to instill and sharpen my entrepreneur skills.
I got a good paying job in Chicago, which allowed me pay my bills and have some money left over to work on the pattern making for my designs, and buy fabrics for production. Having a 'good job' to fund my new budding business, was not enough to make my passion easy, but I wasn't expecting "easy." I constantly encounter new challenges each day which I believe is making me a better entrepreneur. As the saying goes, "you learn from experience."
My company Dialè is gradually growing and I have the strongest conviction that it will overcome all odds and be all I have envisioned, as long as I work and pray hard enough.
