Personal Mission Statement
I act as an instrument of positive change in my family, my work, and my community by cultivating honest and open relationships. I value growth in my personal and work relationships. I believe in confronting challenges head on and don't shy away from taking responsibility for my actions. Trust connects all of these qualities. I value trust because of the power it has to establish meaningful relationships. When people feel as though they can trust you, and trust your resolve, they are more open to communicating and this can lead to endless possibilities for advancement in one's life.
Career Goals Statement
My ultimate career goal is to land a position in the event planning industry. Right now, the best way to get into such a career is experience, so I am applying to internship positions. In five or so years from now, I would like to be able to help with the setup of red carpet events as well as meet and greet celebrities and high-profile figures. This kind of position may require me to change locations to an area where this career is more prevalent, so being in a place where I am financially stable enough to make such a move is also of the highest importance to me.
Accomplishments & Work Experience
I was selected to be the master of ceremonies for an open mic night fundraising event, and was involved in almost every aspect of planning and running the event. I distributed flyers as well as posted the event across various social media platforms. I also coordinated with campus dining services to cater food and helped set up tables during the event. I assisted in checking in guests and performers. In between performances, I coordinated music intermissions and engaged the audience.
As a college student working with UMass dining services, I work in a fast-paced environment as a supervisor of the dish room which requires me to actively communicate with management as well as supervise other student workers to ensure a smoothly-operating environment, especially during high traffic times like dinning hall special events. Good teamwork is a necessity, especially in times where a job requires many hands or ideas.
