Rachel Vacek

Rachel Vacek is the Associate Dean for Technology and Digital Strategies at the University of Central Florida where she leads and manages a re-envisioned division that supports technology services, emerging scholarship, and engagement in the research enterprise. Her portfolio includes Digital Initiatives and STARS, the institutional repository, LibTech technology lending, scholarly communication, web services, technology spaces in the library. She liaises closely with UCF Information Technology.
Rachel regularly teaches workshops and speaks at local and national library conferences on library user experience, change management, discovery interfaces, service design, and library leadership. She earned her MLIS in 2001 from the University of Pittsburgh and has previously worked at the University of Michigan, University of Houston, Vanderbilt University, and Miami University. Rachel was a 2007 ALA Emerging Leader, a 2014 Library Journal Mover & Shaker, and the 2014-2015 Library & Information Technology Association (LITA) President.
