VAiN was founded in 2011 in light of my frustration with my own healthy hair journey. I, like many women, had tried every product on the market and had weekly appointments with hairdressers in an effort to obtain long, healthy hair. I thought maybe it was me...I could just never have hair past shoulder length. Then I got smart and learned that simply was not true. This is the foundation of VAiN. What is VAiN? VAiN is a three part solution for healthy hair. Part One: A line of products that will be available for mass production in April 2012. These products are specially formulated for the uniqueness of African-American women's hair, both natural and relaxed. It is paraben free, mineral oil free, and silicone free. My goal is to provide educate as many women as possible about their hair and help them start their healthy hair journey. Part Three: Sustainability. I want to ensure we find a proper hair care regimen you can sustain over time to reap the best results for your hair. Why is it called "VAiN"? I started making products after a conversation with a toxicologist friend of mine. She insisted that the ingredients in some off the shelf products I used caused cancer. My response? Eh...so do cell phones. As we got deeper into the discussion, she stated, "Well...xyz will also make your hair fall out and abc causes wrinkles." *record scratch* Say what? She realized she *now* had my attention and commented, "You are so vain." Yes. Yes I am. And so are you. We desire to be healthy but at our core, we still want to be beautiful! Hence...VAiN :)
