Michael Valade

I am an independent comic book creator and freelance illustrator based out of MA. I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon, and never looked back. I am at my happiest when sitting in my studio. With the right music or cartoon on in the background, you'd be hard pressed to get me to leave!

Although I am known primarily for my Black and White pen and ink work, I absolutely love trying out new techniques and mediums, so you may see the occasional color piece here and there.I am for the most part a traditional illustrator by choice (something about the feel of a nib scratching on bristol and getting ink and white out all over just does it for me lol), but am REALLY looking forward to trying my hand at digital coloring on a more regular basis in the future.

I'm a huge fan of the Indy comix scene as well as more mainstream fare (i.e Marvel and DC) when an artist I like is behind a book. My influences are fairly far reaching as well. I am obsessed with Moebius, Brandon Graham, Ulises Farinas, Mike Mignola, Frank Quietly, Greg Capullo, Andrew MacLean to name a few.
