Valentina Nguyen

My name is Valentina Nguyen. I am Vietnamese American and can speak English and Vietnamese. I am twenty-three years old. I am a full time student and employee. I am personable, optimistic and reliable. Qualities that I possess that will be beneficial to a future career are my organizational skills, ability to learn quickly/adapt and my desire to learn. Also, my passion for working in the medical/health field is what lead me into this particular major and will continue to lead me to a future career.

My experience in growing up in a first generation family in America has helped me develop the cultural competency to be sensitive to other cultures. This has increased my knowledge and skills while dealing with minorities in particular population, whether it is based on their religion, race or beliefs. This characteristic will guide me in a positive direction for my future career.

My future career goal would be managing a health care facility. I would like to manage various aspects of a hospital: staffing, accounting, marketing and etc. Prior to accomplishing my goal, I would like to attend a masters program in health service administration or mental health administration. However, I believe I will be taking a year or two off of school after I complete my bachelor’s degree to gain experience in the field. The experience gained in the one to two years will better prepare me for the master’s program and will better prepare me for my future job.
