Luis Valer del Portillo
historian, analyst, and Small Business Owner in Zaragoza, España
Hi, I’m Luis. I’m a Zaragoza born historian, currently living in that city. Despite being 26 years old my story is quite long to tell. In academic terms I started my Bachelor in Law in 2011, then swapped to Bachelor in History where I finally found my place. I spent the corresponding four years on these studies and then moved to Barcelona to continue my academic training with two simultaneous masters; one focused on International Studies (International Organizations and Cooperation) and the other focused on International Defense Policy. These academic experiences paved my work path and directed me to Vienna (Austria), where I worked at the Spanish embassy. My work there focused on the political-military area of the Permanent Representation of Spain at the OSCE. When I decided to return to Spain I joined the world of private company, something that I made compatible with continuing my academic training in other fields of knowledge, in this case in economic intelligence at ICADE (Madrid).
After this valuable experience I decided to continue with business affairs and graduated from MBA at EAE Business School in Madrid. This helped me to continue my career in the world of private company in Zaragoza until today.
I want to point out that all these academic and work experiences have combined with my two hobbies, both demanding in time and effort, namely between: playing rugby and researching and writing about international affairs.
