Valerie Wardlaw

Valerie Wardlaw is a psychologist and writer with experience in media consulting and community relations. Wardlaw brings fervor and passion to everything she does, earning her praise in every field she takes on.

Wardlaw’s higher education began at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA where she majored in communications. Wardlaw transferred to Hampton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1979.

Valerie attended the Fuller School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena where she was awarded the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Psychology in 2010 and 2007 respectively. Prior to her studies at Fuller, Valerie was awarded a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in 2005.

Valerie has served as Project Coordinator for the Los Angeles Women’s Health Project for the Office of Women’s Health. In this position, she developed programs about women’s health for minority college students on 30 different college campuses throughout the western area of the U.S.

Wardlaw then worked for the Pasadena City College Foundation as a Project Consultant for Communications and Special Events.

Valerie then went on to be the Interim Director of Public and Community Relations at Pasadena City College from August 2013 to January 2015. As Interim Director, Wardlaw led the entire public and community relations and branding functions also functioned as a speech and scriptwriter for Office of the President.

Valerie Wardlaw currently works as a Behavioral Health Consultant at Moline Medical, Wilmington Clinic in California, where she provides consultation to individuals, families, and public and private agencies on mental health issues.

She also serves as a contributing writer for the Los Angeles Sentinel and the National Newspapers Publishers Association/Black Press Association, where she writes covers, features, entertainment, and sports stories for weekly and online newspapers.

Valerie is a proud member of the Harbor Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She serves as a member of the National Protocol Committee. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served as a member of the National Information and Communications committee for four years. Valerie currently serves as a member of the Tournament of Roses Association, the organization responsible for the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl game.
