Vanesa Avdic

Hey everyone, I’m Vanesa Avdic. Most people think I am just the normal American girl, but I am actually from Bosnia. My family immigrated to the United States due to the Bosnian Serbian War. Bosnian is my first language, and I still have plenty of family in Europe and luckily get to travel there often. In fact, I visited Croatia, Bosnia, and Slovenia this year. We visited family but mainly went sightseeing for a whole two weeks. I am extremely family oriented, so it was sad to say goodbye to my family on move-in day, but I can not wait to see what college has in store for me!

I am eighteen years old. I grew up mostly in Lawrenceville with my sister who is now twenty-three years old and my two dogs. One of my dogs, Dipper, is twelve and the other, Reggie, is two years old. I attended Brookwood High School. There, I ran cross country and distance track and participated in some events such as homecoming court, prom court, and Miss Brookwood. Some of my greatest accomplishments in high school were running cross country and track for the varsity team, placing in homecoming court, winning prom court, and placing in the Miss Brookwood Scholarship Pageant.

I may seem like a huge girly girl, but I am a huge fan of travel, running, and fitness. I’m also interested in hiking and soccer which is my favorite sport to play and watch..
