Vanessa is an advocate for the education and development of African youth and remains active in the pursuit of knowledge to address the challenge of educational inequality in Africa.
She is particularly passionate about supporting students from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Vanessa remains dedicated to building globally competitive and inclusive higher education systems that prioritize student retention, success, and meaningful engagement.
In her current role as the Assistant Director for Campus Cohesion at her alma mater, Ashesi University, she champions inclusive practices by designing context-specific programs, facilitating trainings, and building systems that strengthen belonging and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff.
She previously worked as Content Coordinator responsible for planning and executing content and marketing strategy for Academic City College, Teaching and Research Assistant at Ashesi University, and Editor-in-Chief at siro360 (a digital platform spotlighting African narratives from African perspectives).
Vanessa holds an M.A. (distinction) in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and a BSc. (honors) in Business Administration from Ashesi University.
Outside of work, she enjoys playing board games with her family, mentoring young people, reading African literature, writing creative non-fiction pieces for her blog, exploring new cultures and cuisines through travel, or conducting research (in inclusive global education, refugee and forced migration, youth education in Africa, and gender equality).
