She is also the founder of (@hcsmSA) #hcsmSA - Health Care Social Media South Africa, which in coming years she hopes will become a South African connected health network.

Vanessa was the creative director of Artext, a design company she established in 1997. After a 10 year journey through the medical system, she used her patient experience to diversify the services to include the designing of medical websites with animated patient education. This idea later evolved into an ecosystem concept to connect local healthcare centrally, hcsmSA.

Artext were nominated in the top 25 entrepreneurs at the 2013 National Small Business Chamber of Commerce (NSBC). Vanessa also won woman of the year for WOS in 2015. (www.womenofsubstance.co.za)

Vanessa is an ambassador for Doctors 2.0 & You, Paris (#doctors20), associated to Stanford University Medicine X. She is also a member of the famous #TheWalkingGallery of healthcare in Washington D.C where she represents the patient voice for African digital health.

Vanessa consults doctors. hospitals and other medical professionals for the effective use of health care social media and strategies for patient-centered digital resources such as websites.
