What is the THC Liquid in a Vape?

The THC liquid in a vape is a neutral carrier oil infused with cannabis and optional ingredients like flavoring agents or other bioactives. It is then heated in a dedicated device to produce vaporized cannabinoids.

What is THC?

THC Vape Juice, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the active ingredient in marijuana that produces the psychoactive effects. It binds to receptors in the brain and nervous system.

It also interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which is like a vast network of locks and keys in your body. THC binds to the CB1 receptors in the brain and central nervous system, while CBD binds to the CB2 receptors in the immune system (and in lower levels in the body).

The ECS can be described as a "directionless" network that interacts with many different parts of your body. THC is the key that opens these locks, but you also produce your own keys to those locks called endogenous cannabinoids.

How is THC extracted?

The THC liquid in a vape is the product of an extraction process that concentrates cannabinoids and terpenes from the marijuana plant. During the process, solvents are used to isolate and remove unwanted compounds.

Extracts are made using hydrocarbon solvents, like butane or ethanol, and complex lab equipment. This process is expensive and flammable.

However, it allows the creation of a product with a low risk of contamination. It also creates a product that is more consistent from batch to batch than dried flowers, which may contain trace amounts of leftover solvents.

Distillates are a form of concentrate that can be made with cannabis buds, or other products that have been winterized and dewaxed. They are usually composed of a high percentage of THC, with some other cannabinoids and terpenes being added for flavor/effect purposes.

How is THC vaped?

THC is vaped by putting it into a device that converts the liquid into vapor. This process is similar to e-cigarettes and is considered safe for some people, but it can be harmful if used in high amounts.
