Valerie is passionate about improving Manhattan below 14th Street, above Canal Street, and between Hudson River Park and 4th Avenue/Bowery as the Chair of the Economic Development and Small Business Committee for Manhattan Community Board 2.

Valerie has served on three non-profit boards of directors (issue areas: performing arts, family preservation). She was appointed to Manhattan Community Board 2: Board of Directors and where she serves as the Second Vice Chair and the Economic Development & Small Business Committee Chair. She also serves on the Landmarks & Public Aesthetics Committee. She is a 2018 92Y Women in Power Fellow.
