I am a fashion designer, seamstress, educator, life coach, & mother. I began my love affair with fashion at the age of 9. My mother taught me to sew and I have not looked back. I was a self made entrepreneur in high school. I also worked for Wilson's leather where I learned all things leather in high school. I made & sold gloves to purchase fabric for my own prom gown. I was commissioned to make gowns as well. Originally from the Midwest, I continued my endeavor at the American College of Applied Art (Atlanta, GA) where I obtained a Bachelor's of Art in Fashion Design. I have worked for many of the heavy hitter retailers. I opened the first Bloomingdale's on N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago, IL. I worked for one the largest fabric stores with over 10,000 sq ft of fabric. From there Nordstrom was my bidding and I opened the first Nordstrom at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. I am the mother of two passionate young ladies. The vision for Sew Creative was born in my home after becoming a mother. I taught several students until I no longer had room or coffee for all the students. I opened my first commercial location on my birth day in 2006. Sew Creative became a preparatory program to teach all things fashion. Our roster of over 500 students of all ages over the years, and courses that include fashion design, fashion illustration, fashion finance, CAD, fashion show production & community service. Our travel program included trips to Virginia Beach, Orlando, & 4 trips New York. Our best, attending fashion week and staying in the infamous Waldorf Astoria. We also, had the phenomenal opportunity to spend 10 days traveling to Paris, Monaco, Pisa, French Riviera, and Rome, Italy. My goal is to teach students to be prepared, creative, educated, cultured, and competitive in the fashion industry. I believe in starting them young (age 8 ) to cultivate a platform of excellence for them to spring forth their creative genius. One of my proudest accomplishments is having taught my 16 year old fashion designer. She has designed & sewn over 150 garments, participated in at least 30 shows, worked with over 40 models, and completed over 200 community service hours. She has sewn for over 10 years and is a 5th generation seamstress. My passion for fashion transcends my closet and extends to my community of young fashionistas. I love teaching and believe your gift makes room for you. You are never too old to learn and follow your dreams.
