Dr. Veda Pendleton McClain is a mother, author, educator, and parenting consultant. She is the owner of Veda McClain Consulting. She has over 30 years experience as a parent and mother of five offspring, and she has taken those experiences and begun to share parenting insight with parents and families throughout the USA in efforts to improve their lives and roles as parents. Her book, The Intentional Parenting Plan (TIPP), is a study in parenting that challenges parents to prayerfully, thoughtfully, and reflectively develop a written plan for the life of their child that is based on Christian principles. No such plan has ever been written to do this for parents and children. As an educator, Dr. McClain has taught and mentored hundreds of students through advising. She has served in administrative roles in higher education. Dr. McClain's passion is in literacy, particularly reading, writing, and speaking. She works with students of all ages to develop and enhance their literacy skills. She also speaks to many groups on a variety of education topics, especially topics that help parents secure a better education for their children. Dr. McClain also helps writers craft documents and manuscripts that clearly articulate their messages to others. She writes grants, edits work, and maintains her own writing agenda. Dr. McClain has enjoyed some of the best educational opportunities in this country. She attended the Ethel Walker School through A Better Chance, and graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in English. Her master's degree is in reading from the University of Central Arkansas, and her doctor of philosophy degree is from The University of Georgia in reading education.
