Veena Mohan was initiated into music at a tender age of seven.
An engineer by qualification, she quit her technical career in order to pursue her quest for music. She completed her M.A. Music (Vocal) from the Bangalore University.
Vidushi Veena Mohan had the honor of receiving a Gold Medal from the ex-President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Kalam for having secured the highest percentage in her M.A.

Veena Mohan has performed in numerous Sabhas across the country. To name a few of them, Sri Shanmughananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha (Mumbai, Maharashtra), Nurani Gramam, (Palaghat, Kerala), Nadabrahma Gana Sabha, (Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu),Gayana Samaja (Bangalore, Karnataka), Gana Sudha (Hubli), N.C.P.A (National Centre for the Performing Arts Mumbai, Maharashtra), Cannanore Sangeetha Sabha (Kannur, Kerala), Poona Sangeetha Sabha (Pune), Mysore Association (Mumbai), Mumbai Kannada Sangha (Mumbai), Percussive Arts Centre ,Girinagar Sangeetha Sabha, R.T.
