Juan Pablo Vèlez aka. Vélez came into being in 2007, a project based in a rulebook for experi-mental & electronic smooth music. A personal experience between gear, sounds and music both come from different and varied musical backgrounds.

Juan Pablo Vélez

Born in the 90 in Bogotá/Colombia Juan Pablo Vélez started to play piano while at the same time he started to be interested in the evolution of electronic music and their instruments.

Especially the introduction of affordable samplers in that period led him towards the production of his first own electronic tracks.

His first tracks under the name "Vagabundo" were released in 2007 and with the help of an two decks, 25k controller, and live sets instruments, a sampler and a little synthesizer he made his first album "SUBJECT MATTER EP” (Dub.Sphere Records) which was released in 2011.

After releasing several records, and tracks. In the 2015 Juan Pablo decided to finally start a new solo project again. Vélez, a club oriented liveset that over the years morphed into an advanced DJ set, incorporating not only techno and house, but all different kinds of music, whilst always remaining on the ambient and dance floor.

From warm and organic, to cold and melancholic electronic music and mechanical experimentations, Vélez brings an exceptional and unique album of contemporary electronic music, which could be somewhere between art, minimalism and techno. Complex and rough, keeping his own electronic charm and particular sound touch, including frenetic rhythms, string and drones, hypnotic synth, low bass, piano and beats, and builds up an unique sense of space and an endless beauty. Tumult is definitely a masterpiece to have.
