Dynamic - If I had to state my philosophy and goals in one in one word it would be dynamic. Bundled into this ready-to-burst word are many meanings: vigorous and purposeful, active and changing, and energetic and vibrant. Teaching is a dynamic profession because it requires so much creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration on the part of all individuals involved in the process of learning. I believe that an effective educator is one who is dynamic.

A dynamic teacher will be vigorous and purposeful. The educator will appeal to students’ multi-intelligences. She will understand that students learn in a variety of ways and will use a variety of instructional strategies to respond to students’ diverse needs. She will ensure wide, active, and reflective participation. She will create purposeful, differentiated lessons that appeal to different learning styles and that are multi-modal, and include independent and cooperative activities. She will facilitate authentic and meaningful learning experiences in which students can construct their own knowledge of the subject. She will create a process of inquiry where students will think critically, demonstrate their creativity, collaborate with peers and adults, and communicate their thinking to leave a positive digital footprint in their ever-changing world.

A dynamic teacher will be active and changing. She will be engaging and will change with the times to ensure that students are college and career ready. Technology, 21st century skills, and rigor will be embedded in content areas. The dynamic teacher will grow, learn from her students, and learn with her students. She will not only teach and influence her students, she will also learn from them and change with them.

Finally, a dynamic teacher will be energetic and vibrant. She will make the subject matter fascinating by tapping into students’ prior knowledge and building upon it.
