"When I was young and the urge to be someplace else was on me, I was assured by mature people that maturity would cure this itch. When years described me as mature, the remedy was middle age. In middle age I was assured that greater age would calm my fever and now that I am fifty-eight perhaps seniltiy will do the job." John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
About Me:
As a child I lived in a small village outside of Nuernberg, Germany. From an early age I had an urge to read and roam. Bound by a lack of funds, my early journeys were limited to forays into the musty stacks of the local library and the forests, riverbanks, meadows and farms surrounding home.
At thirteen my travels began in earnest when my family moved to the United States. From there a somewhat nomadic existence led me to Okinawa, England, Turkey and various other U.S. and overseas locations.
My blog, A Musing Bear Tales (http://amusingbeartales.wordpress.com) is the direct result of my love of travel, an addiction to all things sweet (think: honey, pastries, desserts and those two famous bears, Pooh and Paddington) and a slight predilection to ponder life’s conundrums.
