Hello! My name is Vera Soh & I have a strong interest in all things healthy! I'm a proud Singaporean & I'm here to play my part in making this gorgeous country healthy AND happy.
I'm an Economics undergrad & would be graduating in May 2015. However, over the last few years, I've found that my true interest and passion lies not in Economics, Finance or any of these much sought after, well paying industries. I've found deep affection for fitness and dance.
I'm also a dancer. I adore all genres (seriously!) but I gravitate towards Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary. (I STILL have a secret desire to perform like a true hip hop pro haha!) My love for dance only revealed itself in August 2012, after I lived through 2 danceless years - for the 1st time since I was 5 years old! I had a painful spinal surgery due to Scoliosis in Dec 2010.
As the saying goes, people only cherish after losing.
Post A levels, due to my Scoliosis surgery & an arduous relationship, I went on an emotional and psychological downward spiral. I sub-consciously took it out on my body & lost 10kg in a month. At my lowest weight, my BMI was a disastrous 14. 4.
My highest BMI was 21.2 (12, 13 y.o.). Although I, like many others, constantly wished that I could be thinner, skinnier and prettier, I've never been extremely bothered about my appearance. I engaged in more physical activities like running, on top of dancing, and lost weight gradually. My BMI was around 19.5 when I was in Junior College.
After experiencing all the ups & downs in my personal life ( & spending the last few years cultivating "acquired taste" for my university major), I've found myself turning to fitness and dance again and again.
So here I am, in my pursuit to make this place a fitter, stronger, Healthier, Happier, World :)
