Verena Danner
Student in Heidelberg, Deutschland
Hi there! My name is Verena, I am 23 years old and I'm studying in Heidelberg.
I grew up in a very small town near Würzburg, which is located in the South of Germany. As the town, where I am from, consists of only 90 inhabitants, I guess it is not famous enough to tell you its name :-) I am not really fan of biiiig cities and that's also why I decided to study in Heidelberg. Heidelberg is lovely for students to spend time and go out at night but it isn't too big and thus has its own character.
After having finished school, I decided to go abroad to work as aupair. I spent half a year in Spain, met very interesting people and got to know the Spanish culture. During this time, I realized how much I love working with children, also in educational context. So, I applied at the PH Heidelberg to become Primary School Teacher. Here at the PH, I am studying English, of course ;-), German, Religion and German as a Foreign Language.
The last semester, I didn't spend in Heidelberg. I went abroad to Ireland to further extend my teaching experiences and to improve my English. I did an internship at a Primary School where I got to know the Irish school system and different teaching methods. The thing, I enjoyed the most during my time abroad, was the Irish mentality (and the pubs :-)). The Irish people are very welcoming and open-minded and help you at any time.
Now, I am in my eighth semester and enjoy studying in Heidelberg again.
Besides studying, I love meeting friends, going out, reading and, above all, travelling. I love just to grab my backpack and spontaneously move from place to place. I really enjoy the atmosphere in all the different hostels where you always meet interesting people from all over the world.
I am really excited about our telecollaboration project and am looking forward to getting in touch with you!
Cheers,
Verena
